As an LFX mentee with CNCF Volcano, I am designing a vendor-neutral scheduler feature that makes physical xPU topology and concrete device availability visible during scheduling.

  • Designing a vendor-neutral xPU topology-aware scheduling feature for Volcano.
  • It lets Volcano place GPU/NPU workloads according to physical device domains and cross-Node accelerator fabrics, not only aggregate resource counts.
  • The project adds topology ingestion, scheduler-cache integration, gang-aware planning, exact device reservations, and runtime allocation enforcement.
  • It will support Volcano Jobs, PodGroups, and normal Volcano-scheduled Pods from controllers such as Deployments and StatefulSets.
